Old Partner (Wonangsori)
Raymond Depardon’s Modern Life was one of the documentary highlights of the 2009 Glasgow Film Festival. Old Partner is a similarly lyrical, touching portrait of a disappearing way of rural life that has become the biggest independent box-office hit in the history of Korean cinema. Octogenarian farmer Choi and his wife have been together for forty years but there has always been a third partner in their marriage - their loyal, hard-working ox. All of them are approaching the end of their days and Old Partner beautifully captures the loving bond between two soulmates and the farmer’s wife.
