Terribly Happy
Filled with clever twists and caustic humour, Terribly Happy is a cracking thriller that has been earning comparisons with the best of the Coen brothers. Cop Jakob Cedergren is emerging from the other side of a mental breakdown when he is posted to the small border town of Skarrild. The locals hardly welcome him or any concepts of traditional justice. Lene Maria Christensen is the distressed damsel who begs his help to escape from the clutches of an abusive husband, played by the menacing Kim Bodnia. Events unfold but not quite in the manner you might expect in this smart, taught adaptation of the Erling Jepsen novel.
