Dogtooth (Kynodontas)
Winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard at Cannes, Dogtooth offers a merciless, deadpan satire of middle-class respectability. Kept under the thumb of ruthlessly controlling parents, three teenagers are confined to an isolated country estate lest they be contaminated by contact with the wider world. There is an imaginary brother whose sorry fate is meant to be a lesson to them all. The only outsider to enter their estate is a woman hired to satisfy the son’s natural urges. Her presence fans the flame of resistance as sex becomes the utimate act of rebellion.
