Double Take
In life Alfred Hitchcock couldn’t resist sly cameo appearances in his best thrillers. In death he moves centre stage in this wildly inventive, blurring of fact and fiction from Belgian filmmaker and media artist Johan Grimonprez. Inspired by a Jorge Luis Borges story, this is a suspenseful plunge into the paranoia of the Cold War era weaving together the witty tale of Hitchcock encountering his double during the filming of The Birds, rising tensions between America and the Soviets and a stirring attack on the power of the media. Ron Burrage makes a fantastic Hitchcock in this constant delight.
