The sixth Glasgow Film Festival launched last night with the Scottish premiere of Jean Pierre Jeunet’s Micmacs.
Jean Pierre and his wife, Liza, flew in to grace the red carpet of the Glasgow Film Theatre at a packed screening attended by an audience of film fans including Baillie Liz Cameron and fellow film directors Mark Cousins and Thomas Ikimi, who will also be premiering his film, Legacy, at the Festival’s closing gala.
After greeting the Scottish press, M Jeunet, director of the dazzling Delicatessen and the much-loved Amelie, introduced the screening, which was preceded by welcome addresses from Allison Gardner and Allan Hunter, co-directors of the Film Festival; Morgan Petrie, Market Development Executive of Scottish Screen and Baillie Liz Cameron. Afterwards he participated in a question and answer session with Allan Hunter.
This was followed by a party for Festival followers in the cinema to celebrate the opening of the Glasgow Film Festival 2010. Festival organisers were also celebrating the fact that over 17,000 advance tickets had already been sold.
